Frequently asked question
Preparing to meet with an attorney is key to using your time efficiently and getting the best legal advice. Here are some steps to prepare:
collection of documents
Prepare all relevant documents
contracts, letters, emails, court documents, invoices, etc. for your case.
Make sure you have copies of all these documents.
Situation overview:
Take a brief overview of your case or problem. Write down the key points, events, and dates.
If you have any specific questions, prepare them in advance.
Meeting objectives:
Be clear about what you expect from the meeting. Do you want advice, a risk analysis, a suggestion for a way forward, or something else?
List of questions:
Prepare a list of questions you want to know the answer to. These could be questions about your case, legal procedures, the cost of a lawyer, etc.
What to bring:
Bring your ID card or other proof of identity.
I recommend you also bring a notebook and pen, or some other way to take notes during the meeting.
Preparation will not only help you better understand your own situation, but it will also allow the attorney to provide you with the most accurate and effective legal advice.
